About me
Matt Smock is the founding Director of Northern Michigan University’s Center for Teaching and Learning, which facilitates excellence in classroom and online instruction and promotes scholarship of teaching and learning by providing professional development, tools, and other supporting services.

His experience also includes instructional design, project management, and technical writing for Ford Motor Company and IBM. Smock holds an M.S. in Instructional Technology from Bloomsburg University, a B.S. in Scientific and Technical Communication from Michigan Technological University, and a graduate certificate in Human-Computer Interaction from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
