H. Russell Searight, Ph.D., MPH, received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Saint Louis University. He later earned a second master’s degree in public health from the Saint Louis University School of Public Health. Dr. Searight has taught in the graduate program at Saint Louis University, as well as in both the graduate and undergraduate programs at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.He has received multiple teaching awards, including the Faculty of the Year Award several times from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, as well as from the Forest Park Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. In 2011, he received the Distinguished Teaching Award from Lake Superior State University, where he is currently Professor of Psychology.Prior to joining Lake Superior State University, Dr. Searight served on the faculty of the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and an affiliated community-based family medicine residency program at Forest Park Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri.Dr. Searight has published over 200 articles and book chapters and has authored or edited 10 books on a range of topics including primary care mental health, adult attachment styles, mental health policy, and informed consent in clinical practice and research. His current research and scholarly interests include medical ethics and end-of-life decision making, cross cultural issues in health care, assessment in higher education, the social determinants of health, and first-generation university students
